1911 - Elizabeth Robinson, born on the 23rd of August in Riverdale, Illinois. She was an American athlete, winner of the first Olympic 100 m for women.
1927 - She ran her first 100 m race on March, aged 16. She finished second only to the American record holder. At her next race, she equalled the world record, though her time was not recognised.
1931 - She was involved in a plane crash, and was severely injured.
1936 - Was a part of the US relay team at the Summer Olympics.
1999 - Died aged 87, suffering from cancer and Alzheimer's disease on the 18th of May.
