1950 - Born on October 10th in Washington, District of Columbia. Nora Roberts is truly a publishing phenomenon. With well over 75 million copies of her books in print --- including 6 New York Times bestsellers in 1997 alone --- she has come a long way since she wrote her first novel in a spiral notebook using a No. 2 pencil.
1981 - Nora Roberts remains committed to writing for her romance audience that took her into their heart with her very first book, a Silhouette romance.
- Her first novel, "Irish Thoroughbred", was published.
1985 - Married her husband Bruce Wilder on July 6th.
1986 - First author inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame.
1997 - Roberts reached new heights, both on bestseller lists and in her incomparable talent for creating compelling, passionate page-turners when three of her books placed one, two and three in the top five bestsellers.
1998 - The second installment of this series, Rising Tides, debuted on the New York Times bestseller list at number one when it was released in July, again a first for Nora.
- Nora Roberts also writes futuristic romantic under the pseudonym J.D. Robb, beginning with Holiday in Death published in June.
