1942 - Born on June 25th in Hico, Louisiana. American professional basketball player and professional and collegiate basketball coach.
1961-1964 - Reed left his home in rural Louisiana to attend Grambling State College (now University).
- He ushered the basketball squad to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship.
- Drafted by the New York Knickerbockers in the 2nd round (1st pick) of the NBA draft.
1965 - NBA rookie of the year.
1970 - He led New York Knicks to NBA titles.
- Was the Finals MVP and a regular season MVP.
- Voted one of NBA's 50 Greatest Players.
1977 - The coach of New York Knicks.
1982 - Inducted into Hall of Fame as Player.
