Ray, Satyajit(Manik)
1921 – He was born this year in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.
1940 – He got his degree in Economics this year at the Presidency College, Calcutta.
1948 – He married Bijoya Ray.
1943 – He studied visual arts in the University, Santiniketan, he left this year.
1950 – He also traveled extensively in Europe during this year.
1955 - His first movie Pather Panchali won several International Awards and he was set as a world-class director.
1961 – He was a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival. He's the second Indian to have won an Oscar.
1967 - He wrote a script for a movie entitled "The Alien". Columbia Pictures was in talks to produce this movie.
1992 – He died this year in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. He won a special lifetime achievement award at the 1992 Academy Awards.
