1925 – Born in Heidelberg, Germany on the 20th of September. The eighth king of the Chakkri dynasty of Siam, whose mysterious death was one of the most traumatic events in the history of modern Thailand.
1927 – He followed his parents to Paris, Lausanne, and then to Massachusetts when, another uncle, King Prajadhipok issued a royal edict exalting him to the higher princely class of Phra Worawong Ther Phra Ong Chao.
1928 – The family returned to Thailand, after Prince Mahidol finished his medical studies at Harvard University.
1935 – Ananda was only 10 years old and a schoolboy in Switzerland when he succeeded his uncle, King Prajadhipok.
1945 – King Ananda Mahidol returned to Thailand with a degree in Law.
– He quickly won the hearts of the Thai people, who had continued to revere the monarchy through the upheavals.
1946 – On the 9th of June, the King was found shot dead in his bedroom in the Grand Palace, only four days before he was scheduled to return to Switzerland to finish his doctoral degree in Law at the University of Lausanne. He died at the age of 21.
