Shankar, Raj
1947 - Born on April 2nd in Gorakhpur, India. Indian biochemist.
1960-1962 - Awarded Merit Scholarship under 2nd year plan in India.
1964 - Awarded Atomic Energy Scholarship by the Atomic Energy Commission (INDIA).
- Graduated with a degree in Bachelor Of Science taking Botany, Zoology, Chemistry from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, India.
1966 - Awarded CSIR Junior Research Fellowship at V.P. Chest Institute, University of Delhi.
- He completed Master Of Science in Biochemistry from the Lucknow University.
- Studied lipid metabolism in mycobacteria at the University of Delhi.
- Traveled to the University of British Columbia (UBC) to study for his Ph.D. in biochemistry.
- He studied cerebral metabolism during anoxia.
- Joined the faculty of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India.
- He began his work on malnutrition and brain development.
- Was the Head Of the Department Of Biochemistry at IMS-BHU.
- Discovered the cognitive defects in Alzheimer's disease are caused by a phosphorylation-related problem with protein folding.

2000 - Died from massive cardiac arrest on August 22nd in Varanasi , India.
