1903 - Born on February 8
1910-1920 - After early schooling in Malaya and Thailand, Abdul Rahman attended Cambridge University and studied law at London’s Inner Temple
1946 - A founder of the United Malayas National Organizational
1952 - He was chief architect of its alliance with the Malayan Chinese Association
1954 - Headed Malayan Indian Congress
1957-1963 - 1st prime minister of Malaya
1961 - Abdul Rahman is credited with founding the Association of South-east Asia, consisting of Malaya, Thailand, and the Philippines, to resist the claims of Sukarno of Indonesia including Indonesia and Singapore
1963 - He was also the key figure in the formation of the Federation of Malaysia
- He tried to accommodate the Chinese and Indian minorities
1970 - Abdul Rahman’s resignation
1990 - Died on December 6
