1801 - Born on the 26th of January Gloucester Co., New Jersey.

1826 - He moved to New York to study painting.

1829 - He depected subjects from Washington Irving's stories to paint.

         - He painted "Rip Van Winkle".

1832 - Painted The Money Diggers.

1855 - He made "Ichabod Crane at the Van Tassel's Ball".

1860 - Painted Institute: "Dancing on the Battery" as one of the four subjects given to him by Washington Irving.
