1929 - Max Carl Adolf von Sydow, born on the 10th of April in Lund, Skane, Sweden. He is an Academy-Award nominated Swedish actor, known in particular for his collaboration with filmmaker Ingmar Bergman.

1948 - 1951 - After conscription he began to study at the Royal Dramatic Theatre's acting school, together with Lars Ekborg, Margaretha Krook and Ingrid Thulin.

1949 - His first role was as Nils the crofter in Alf Sjöberg's Bara en mor.

1965 - 1966 - His career abroad began with The Greatest Story Ever Told and Hawaii.

1980 - 1986 - His career includes very different kind of characters, like Emperor Ming in Flash Gordon or the artist Frederick in Hannah and Her Sisters.

1987 - He made his directing debut with Ved vejen. He has become one of Sweden's most admired and professional actors.
