1952 – He was born on the 14th day of May in Chicago, Illinois to a Lithuanian father and Yugoslavian mother; he was also raised in a working class Catholic family.

1978 – After his education at the University of Southern California for Cinematic Arts. He got the attention of the famous Director Spielberg who produced his first two films, both of which he co-wrote with Bob Gale. “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” is the first one.

1980 – The second movie was “Used Car” starring Kurt Russell for this year.

1984 – He was jobless until Michael Douglas hired him in 1984 to film Romancing the Stone.

1985 – He had the chance to direct his time-traveling screenplay, which was titled Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox, that  movie was wildly successful upon its release, and was followed by two sequels.

1994 – He decided to direct more serious film, starting with what has been his biggest commercial and critical success to date is the movie Forrest Gump. The film won him an Academy Award for Best Director.

1997 – He made a critically acclaimed movie “Contact” with Jodie Foster.
2001 – He married Leslie Harter on the 4th day of December this year and both were still living together as husband and wife
