1904 -Lord Curzon, viceroy of India; sent Younghusband with a military expedition to Lhasa, Tibet, where he forced the Dalailama, Tibet's leader; to sign a trade treaty.
-Younghusband later surveyed the Brahmaputra and sutlej rivers.
