1878 - Born in Lawrence, Kansas

 

1872 - married Carrie Buchan

 

1902-1904

- planned out the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis and the designs of parks and park ways in Kansas City, Denver, and in Cincinnati

 

1909 - independently worked after being under Frederick Law Olmsted's influence

 

1923 - joined with Clarence Stein in planning the Garden City communities in the New York area

 

1924-1928

- built (alongside Stein) Sunnyside Gardens in Queens, New York

 

1926 - wrote the classic report A Plan for the State of New York while he was the planning advisor for the New York State Housing and Regional Planning Commission

 

1928 - also built it in Radburn, New Jersey but it was never completed

 

1936 - the US architect died
