1947-1949 - He is one of few who played on 2 Hoosier Classic championship teams when Butler defeated both Indiana and Purdue in the same tournament.

1954 - Under the leadership of twenty-six year old coach Marvin Wood, the Indians began their rise to the top of the 751 teams entered in that year's tournament, with a record of 19-2.

         - A coach for 22 years, Marvin will best be remembered for coaching his Milan High School players to victory over Muncie Central in the Indiana High School Championship game.

1974 - District 1 Coach of Year by Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

         - Marvin is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

1999 - Wood died of cancer on October 13th at the age of 71.
