1928 - Born on April 5th in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Tony Williams, a former parking-lot attendant who crooned the 1950's hit songs "Only You" and "The Great Pretender" as the lead singer of the Platters.
1953 - The "Platters" group was formed in Los Angeles. He was the lead singer of the group.
1955 - Released the single "Only You".
1992 - He died on Friday, August 14th at his Manhattan apartment. He was 64 years old. He had been suffering from diabetes and emphysema.
