Wilkins, William
1779 - Born on December 20th in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. A Senator and a Representative from Pennsylvania.
1801 - He attended Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Studied law, admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
1810 - Assisted in organizing the Pittsburgh Manufacturing Company.
- The first president of the Bank of Pittsburgh.
1816 - He was the president of the common council.
1820 - A member of the State house of representatives.
1821 - Appointed as the judge of the fifth judicial district of Pennsylvania.
1824 - The judge of the United States District Court for western Pennsylvania.
1831 - Was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-first Congress, but resigned before qualifying; elected as a Jacksonian to the United States Senate.
1834 - Was appointed as the United States Minister to Russia.
1843 - Was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress.
1844 - Appointed Secretary of War by President John Tyler.
1855 - He was a member of the State Senate.
1862 - Was the major general of the Pennsylvania Home Guards.
1865 - He died in Homewood, near Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on June 23rd.
