1885 - Born on November 9th in Elmshorn, near Hamburg, Germany. German American mathematician who, through his widely varied contributions in mathematics, served as a link between pure mathematics and theoretical physics, in particular adding enormously to quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity.
1913-1930 - After serving as chairman of mathematics at Zürich Technische Hochschule, Weyl returned to Göttingen where he filled the chair formerly occupied by Hilbert.
1933 - Weyl emigrated to the United States, and he worked at the Institute for Advanced Study, in Princeton, New Jersey, until his retirement.
1955 - Died on December 8th in Zürich, Switzerland.
