1970 – He was born on the 12th day of October this year in Thomasville, Georgia, USA.

 

1993 – He won the 1993 Heisman Trophy as a quarterback for Florida State University, and subsequently led the Seminoles to their first-ever National Championship when FSU defeated Nebraska 18-16 in the 1994 Orange Bowl. Though Ward did not play baseball in college, the Milwaukee Brewers in this year’s free agent draft drafted him as a pitcher.

 

1994 – This year, he was also drafted as a pitcher by the New York Yankees.

 

2006 – This year, he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

 

2007 - In June of this year, Ward was hired as an assistant coach for the varsity boy’s basketball team by Westbury Christian High School in Houston, Texas. He was previously an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.
