Walton, George
1749 - George Walton was born in Cumberland County, Virginia.
1769 - He moved to Savannah, Georgia to study law under a Mr. Young.
1774 - He was admitted to the bar.
1778 - He was elected to the Continental Congress, a position.
1779 - He was freed through a prisoner exchange.
- In October, Walton was elected Governor of Georgia, a position he held for only two months.
1780 - In January, he was appointed to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of James Jackson.
1783 - He became Chief Justice of Georgia.
1789 - Governor of Georgia.
1795 - U.S. Senator.
1795 - Served in that position from November to February, until a successor, Josiah Tattnall, was officially elected.
1804 - Died in Augusta, Georgia on the 2nd of February at his home, College Hill, near Augusta.
