1841 - Born on the 13th of July in Penzing, Vienna, Austria.
1864 - He started designing his first buildings in the historicist style.
1880 - Became a proponent of Architectural Realism.
1890 - He had already designed several Juqendstil buildings.
- Designed a new city plan for Vienna, but only his urban rail network (the Stadtbahn) was built.
1894 - He became Professor of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
1896 - He published a textbook entitled Modern Architecture in which he expressed his ideas about the role of the architect.
1897 - Founded the "Vienna Secession" artistic group. From his idea he developed a style that included quasi-symbolic references to the new forms of modernity.
1918 - He died at the age of 77 on April 11th.
