1992 - 1994 - Notable films include Universal Soldier, Hard Target, and Timecop. In most of his movies, he plays a prize fighter, policeman, or soldier.

1998  - He and actor Chuck Zito engaged in a fistfight at a New York city bar. He began to take off his glasses and stand up when Zito (fearing Van Damme's powerful kicks) started punching him as he was still getting off his chair.
