1885 - Louis Untenmeyer, born on the 1st of October in New York City. He was an American author, poet, anthologist, and editor.
1906 - He married Jean Starr.
1911 - He was the author or editor of close to 100 books. Many of them and his other memorabilia are preserved in a special section of the Lilly Library at the Indiana University.
1950 - He was a panelist during the first year of What's My Line?.
- He was named during the hearings by the House Committee on Un-American Activities investigating communist subversion.
1951 - His removal from What's My Line? when it started to become highly popular and he was blacklisted by industry.
1956 - The Poetry Society of America awarded Untermeyer a Gold Medal.
1961 - 1963 - He also served as a Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress.
1977 - Died on the 18th of December.
