1925 - Born on May 4th in Fribourg, Switzerland. Swiss sculptor and experimental artist, noted for his machinelike kinetic sculptures that destroyed themselves in the course of their operation.
1941-1945 - Studied painting and sculpture at the Basel School of Fine Arts, showing an early interest in movement as an artistic medium in his work.
- Apprenticed as a decorator.
1954 - He opened his first exhibition at Galerie Arnaud in Paris.
1959 - “Méta-Matics de Jean Tinguely” exhibit at Galerie Iris Clert in Paris.
1963 - Created the large sculpture “Heureka” for the Expo 64 in Lausanne.
1971 - Married to Niki de Saint-Phalle.
1991 - Died on August 30th at the Inselspital, Bern.
