1774 - He had just come to Philadelphia in September, with his bride, a sister of Benjamin Harrison, the signer, when he learned that he had been unanimously chosen Secretary of the 1st Continental congress.
- The only secretary of Continental Congress.
1815 - Author of the book A Synopsis of the Four Evangelists.
1824 - Died on August 16th in Lower Merion, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
