1617 - Born on the month of December in Zwolle, in the province of Oversyssel, Holland this year.

1630-1650 - He often depicted the scenes of everyday life.

1632 - The inscription on a study of a head proves that he was probably in Amsterdam this year, studying under C. Duyster or P. Codde.

1634 - He studied under Pieter Molyn in Haarlem. In this year, he also experienced the influence of Frans Hals.
