1847 - Josiah Strong was born.

1885 - His most well-known and influential work was Our Country: Its Possible Future and Its Present Crisis, intended to promote domestic missionary activity in the American West.

1890-1891 - A revised edition was issued based on the census.

1898 - He served as General Secretary of the Evangelical Alliance for the United States, a coalition of Protestant missionary groups.

1916 - He set up his own group, the League for Social Service and edited its magazine The Gospel of the Kingdom.

1916 - Josiah Strong died.US Congregational clergyman, evangelist, and social reformer
