Stritch, Elaine

1925 - Elaine Stritch, born on the 2nd of February in Detroit, Michigan to a wealthy, devoutly Roman Catholic family. She is an Irish-American actress and singer.

1944 - First stage appearance.

1946 - Her Broadway bow. A superlative dramatic actress,

1948 - Starred in the the pioneering domestic comedy Growing Paynes.

1949 - She was also a member of the supporting comedy troupe on the TVer Jack Carter.

1956 - Her film debut in The Scarlet Hour.

       - Company, a comic switchboard operator on the bi-weekly variety series Washington Square.

1957 - Contributed a compelling performance to the remake of A Farewell to Arms.

1960 - The short-lived sitcom My Sister Eileen.

1965 - Peter Falk's secretary on the one-season Trials of O'Brien.

1970 - Her film the French-filmed Providence

1986 - Costarred as the star's mother in The Ellen Burstyn Show.

1972 - Moved to London as a cast member of the Broadway hit Company and remained there to work for several years.

1990 - 1998 - In the last decade, she has appeared in such films as September and Cocoon.

1994 - Has won additional critical plaudits for her role as Parthy Hawkes in the lavish Broadway revival of Show Boat.

2002 - She began performing in her one woman show, Elaine Stritch At Liberty.

2005 - 2006 - She has performed a cabaret act at the Carlyle Room at the Hotel Carlyle in NYC (where she is a resident).
