1999 - On March of this year, the Melissa Virus was unleashed that caused widespread disruption to computers around the world. On the 1st of April this year, David Smith was arrested and charged with originating the "Melissa" e-mail virus. Pleaded guilty in December of this year.
2002 - Sentenced on the 3rd of May in State Superior Court in Freehold, N.J. to 20 months in federal prison.
