1908 – She was born Marianna Dorothy Agnes Letitia McNulty on the 15th day of September this year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

1937 - She married a dentist, Lawrence Singleton, in 1937, and moved to Hollywood, where she later became billed as Penny Singleton.

 

1938 - She was cast opposite Arthur Lake (as Dagwood) in the feature film Blondie in this year, based on the comic strip by Chic Young. As Dagwood and Blondie Bumstead, they proved so popular that a succession of 27 sequels was made from this year until 1950.

 

1939 - She divorced Lawrence this year; they had one child, a daughter. She and Arthur repeated their roles on a radio comedy beginning in this year, and in guest appearances on other radio shows.

 

1941 - She married Robert Sparks in this year. They had one child, a daughter. Sparks died on July 22, 1963.

 

1962 - She became familiar to television audiences as the voice of Jane Jetson in the animated series The Jetsons, which originally aired from this year until 1963. She also toured in nightclubs and road shows of plays and musicals.

 

2003 – She died of stroke at age of 95, on the 12th day of November this year. She was interred in San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
