1893 – He was born on the 21st day of February this year.
1897 – This year, at the early age of four was his first introduction to the guitar. As a teenager, Segovia moved to the town of Granada, where he studied the guitar
1909 - His first public performance was in Spain, and a few years later he held his first professional concert in Madrid, playing guitar transcriptions by Francisco Tárrega and some works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which he had transcribed and arranged himself.
1928 - After his debut tour in the USA in this year, the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos composed his now well-known Twelve Etudes, and dedicated them to the Maestro.
1935- He gave a premiere of Bach's "Chaconne", a difficult piece for any instrument. He moved to Montevideo performing many concerts in South America in the thirties and early forties.
1954 - Joaquin Rodrigo composed Fantasía para un gentilhombre at the request of Segovia.
1958 - He won this year’s Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance - Instrumentalist (Other Than Concerto-Scale Accompaniment) for his recording Segovia Golden Jubilee.
1981 - In recognition of his contributions to music and the arts, Segovia was ennobled on the 24th day of June this year by the King of Spain.
1986 - Segovia received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
1987 – He passed away of a heart attack at the age of 94 on the 3rd day of June this year. He died after having achieved his ambition to elevate the guitar from a gypsy dance instrument to a concert instrument.
