1869 - Walter Dill Scott was born May 1st in Cooksville, Illinois to farmer James Sterling Scott and Henrietta Sutton Scott, a former schoolteacher.

         - Walter Dill Scott was a prominent psychologist who paved the way for the advertising agency as well as Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

1888 - Scott entered Illinois State Normal University.

1891 - After graduating, he immediately continued his education at Northwestern University.

1895-1898 - Graduated with his B.A., Scott then entered McCormick Theological Seminary from which he was awarded a B.D. degree.

1900 - Scott then went to Europe to do postgraduate work at the University of Leipzig, from which he received his Ph.D.

         - Married Anna Marcy Miller, a woman he had met at Northwestern, and with whom he would have two children, John Marcy and Sumner Walter.

1920 - Walter Dill Scott was elected president of the  APA as well as Northwestern University. He received honorary degrees from Cornell College and University of Southern California, and was elected Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor.

1939 - He retired from teaching.

1955 - Died on Evanston, Illinois.
