Schieffer, Bob

1937 - Bob Lloyd Schieffer, born on the 25th of February in Austin, Texas.

1959 - Graduated BA Journalism and English, Texas Christian University

1959-1962 - USAF (three years, public information officer, discharge 1962)

1969 - He then joined WBAP in Dallas before taking a job with CBS. 

        - American journalist who has been with CBS News, serving 23 years as anchor on the Saturday edition of CBS Evening News.

1982 - Chief Washington correspondent.

1991 - Moderator of the Sunday public affairs show Face the Nation.

2002 - Has won six Emmy awards, won two Sigma Delta Chi awards, was named Broadcaster of the Year by the National Press Foundation, and was named to the Broadcasting/Cable Hall of Fame

         -Married, (They have 2 Daughters) 

2003 - He is a survivor of grade III bladder cancer; was diagnosed and is currently cancer-free.

2004 - He was the moderator of the third presidential debate between President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry.

2005 - 2006 - Interim weekday anchor of the CBS Evening News. Katie Couric, formerly of NBC's Today show, succeeded Schieffer as anchor on the 5th of September.
