Savage, John
1779 - Born in Salem, Washington County, New York on February 22nd. He is a Representative from New York.
1799 - He attended the common schools and was a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, New York.
1800 - He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Salem, New York.
1806-1813 - The district attorney for the fourth New York district.
1814 - He was a member of the State assembly.
1815-1819 - Elected as a Republican to the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Congresses.
- Appointed as chairman, Committee on Revisal and Unfinished Business (Fifteenth Congress); district attorney of Washington County.
1821 - A State comptroller.
1823-1836 - The Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court.
1828 - Appointed Treasurer of the United States but did not accept.
1844 - The presidential elector on the Democratic ticket.
1863 - He died in Utica, New York on October 19th and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.
