1971 - Lea Salonga-Chien, Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga born on the 22nd of February in Angeles City, Philippines. She is a Tony Award-winning Filipino singer and actress who is best known for her portrayal of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon. 1989 - She is most well known for her portrayal of ‘Kim’ in the West End. 1991 - Her Broadway hit musical ”Miss Saigon”, for which she received the Laurence Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critic’s Circle and Tony Awards. 1993 - She took on the role of Éponine on Broadway, a role she reprised in the Tenth Anniversary concert. 1995 - She released her self-titled international debut album with Atlantic Records, which has gone ‘Gold’ and ‘Platinum’ in areas of South East Asia. Lea also played the role of ‘Eliza Doolittle’ in Repertory Philippines’ “My Fair Lady” and the role of the ‘Witch’ in Singapore Repertory theatre’s production of “Into the Woods”. 1998 - She has also recorder the singing voices of ‘Jasmine’ in the Walt Disney Animated movie “Aladdin” and ‘Fa Mulan’ in the Disney movie “Mulan”. 2004 - On the 10th of January, married Robert Charles Chien, a Chinese-Japanese managing director of an entertainment software company in Los Angeles, California. 2006 - Daughter, Nicole Beverly, was born on the 16th of May. She was named after her late mother-in-law, Beverly Chien. 2007 - On the 3rd of January, it was announced that she will return to Broadway in the musical Les Miserables replacing Daphne Rubin-Vega as Fantine.
