1783 - Alexander Ross, born on the 9th of May in Scottland. He was a fur trader and author.

1805 - He emigrated to Upper Canada, Ontario, from Scotland.

1811 - Working for John Jacob Astor's Pacific Fur Company, he took part in the founding of Astoria, a fur-trading post in Oregon.

1813 - He joined the North West Company.

1821 - When the North West merged with the Hudson's Bay Company, he worked for the latter for 4 years.

1856 - Died on the 23rd of October.
