1918-1931 - Head football coach for University of Notre Dame 1918-1931.

 

1928 - Delivered "Win one for the Gipper" speech at halftime during game against Army at Yankee Stadium, rallying Notre Dame from 0-6 deficit to 12-6 victory.

 

Died in airplane crash.
