Robert Renfroe Riley
1944 - Robert Renfroe Riley, born on the 3rd of October in Ashland, Alabama, a small town in Clay County where his family ranched and farmed for six generations. He is an American politician in the Republican Party.
1965 - Attended the University of Alabama, graduating with a degree in business administration.
1996 - Was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, defeating his Democratic opponent, State Senator T.D. "Ted" Little and Libertarian John Sophocleus.
1997 - 2003 - Served as a representative of Alabama's 3rd congressional district.
2005 - He was criticized by some Mobile County residents after issuing that area of the state a "mandatory" evacuation order in advance of Hurricane Dennis's landfall.
2007 - He is the current Governor of Alabama.
2008 - He has recently been mentioned as the frontrunner choice for the Vice Presidential contender for the year's Presidential Election due to his economic success since taking office.
