1948 - Born in Cincinnati, Ohio. David Quammen is one of the Northwest's literary treasures, although the 55-year-old resident of Bozeman, Montana.
- David Quammen wrote his first novel that was published in college while he was attending Yale University.
1981 - David Quammen ended up writing in Outside magazine.
- The section he wrote in was Natural Acts, in which he received the National Magazine Award twice.
- One of Quammen's most famous books would be The Song of the Dodo.
- His favorite pieces of work are, Quammen says Walking Out, The Same River Twice, and The Keys to Kingdom Come. All of his favorites are based in the state of Montana. Quammen has reached his life-long career as a writer and continues to make himself well known throughout the world.
1996 - Wrote nonfiction "The Song of the Dodo: Island Biogeography in an Age of Extinctions".
2001-2003 - Quammen wrote "Monster of God: The Man-Eating Predator in the Jungles of History and the Mind".
2004 - He came to Dartmouth in Spring.
