50 BC - He was a Latin elegiac poet born in or near Bevagna.

         - He spent most of his life in Rome.

         - His work was, however, heavily influenced by the poetry of Catullus, who is considered the most notable neoteric poet. Virgil and Ovid, who wrote epics, are also omitted from the neoteric classification.

31 BC - An ostensible celebration of Augustus' victory at Actium, becomes another opportunity for Propertius to display his forensic wit.

15 BC - Sextus Propertius died.
