1946 - Born on the 29th of December in Panama City, Panama.

1966 - Fred W. Hooper, a prominent horseman, and agent Camilo Marin sponsored him to come to the United States and ride under contract with them.

         - Started his American career at the Arlington Park in Chicago and he won eight out of his first eleven races.


1970 - Pincay was voted the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award.

1971 - United States Champion Jockey by wins and the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey.

1973-1974 - Received the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey.

1975 - Inducted to the National Museum of Racing and Racing Hall of Fame.


1979 - Received the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey.

1982-1984 - Took three consecutive Belmont Stakes.

1984 - He won the Kentucky Derby aboard Swale (horse).

1985 - Received the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey.

1992 - Married wife Jeanine in this year.

1993 - Jean Laffit Pincay, Jeanine and Laffit's son was born this year in October.

1996 - He was voted the Mike Venezia Memorial Award.

1999 - Received the Eclipse Special Award.

2000 - Received the Big Sport of Turfdom Award.

2003 - In April of this year, at the time of his retirement, he remained horse racing's winningest jockey, with 9,530 career victories.

2004 - Hollywood Park announced the creation of the Laffit Pincay Jr. Award on Hollywood Gold Cup Day that features the race he won a record nine times.

2006 - On the 1st of December, Russell Baze passed Pincay on the all-time win list.
