1960 – He was born Sean Justin Penn on the 17th day of August in Santa Monica, California. American actor.

         - He attended Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California, studying auto mechanics and speech, but did not graduate with a degree.

1981 – He launched his career with the film "Taps", followed a year later with the comedy "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" in the role of Jeff Spicoli and has since starred in over 40 movies.

1985 – He married the famous singer Madonna on August 16th and divorced four years later.

         - He also gave a memorable performance in the role of Andrew Daulton Lee in The Falcon and the Snowman.

1996 - Married to Robin Wright on April 27th.

1997 - He directed the music video for her song "You Were Meant For Me".

2002 – On the 18th of October this year, he placed a $56,000 advertisement in the Washington Post asking President George W. Bush to end a cycle of violence. It was written as an open letter and referred to the planned attack on Iraq and the War on Terror.

2003 – He won Best Actor in the Academy Awards for his movie “Mystic River”.

         - His Buick Grand National was stolen in Berkeley, California with two firearms in the trunk.

2004 – He won Best Actor at the Golden Globe Awards.

         - He received the John Steinbeck award at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

2005 – He made a visit to Iran. Acting as a journalist on an assignment for the San Francisco Chronicle, he attended a Friday prayer ceremony at Tehran University.

         - Was the only actor to ever receive a Best Actor nomination for a Woody Allen film, besides Woody Allen himself.
 
2006 - His younger brother Chris, who was famous for playing Nice Guy Eddie in Reservoir Dogs, was found dead in his Santa Monica condominium on January 24th.

2007 – He publicly criticized President Bush and his handling of the war in Iraq. Penn blatantly questioned whether President Bush's twin daughters supported the war in Iraq.
