1977 - Earned her J.D. from Baylor University School of Law.
1994 - Enron's political action committee gave Owen $8,600 for her successful Supreme Court bid.
1995 - She was the associate justice of the Supreme Court of Texas.
1996 - Owen wrote the majority opinion that reversed a lower court order and reduced Enron's school taxes by $15 million.
2003 - The Senate rejected (52-45) a second cloture motion on Owen's nomination. (60 votes are required to invoke cloture and end debate on the nomination).
2005 - Nominated by George W. Bush on February 14th, to a seat vacated by William L. Garwood.
- Appointed judge on the United Stated Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
- Confirmed by the Senate on May 25th, and received commission.
