43 BC - Publius Ovidius Naso born on the 20th of March in Sulmo, Italy. A Roman poet known to the English-speaking world as Ovid, wrote on topics of love, abandoned women and mythological transformations.
10 BC - The Amores were published. Book 1 of this collection of love elegy contains 15 poems, which look at the different areas of love poetry.
8 AD - He was banished, for some reason unknown, by Emperor Augustus, to Tomis on the Black Sea.
17 AD - Died in Tomis, now Constanca.
