1856 - Born in England on the 31st of July.

1900 - He was involved in local politics when he won a seat in the provincial legislature.

         - Became leader of the opposition.

1909 - He lost his seat in the election.

1916 - He returned to the legislature in the election as a Liberal member, and became Minister of Agriculture and Railways in the cabinet of Harlan Carey Brewster.

1918 - He succeeded Brewster as Premier when Brewster.

         - He government developed the produce industry in the Okanagan Valley, and tried to persuade the federal government to lower the freight rate for rail transport.

1927 - Oliver remained premier until his death on the 17th of August.
