1696 - James Edward Oglethorpe, born on the 22nd of December in London, England. He was an English general, a philanthropist, and a founder of the state of Georgia.
1714 - He entered Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

1716 - 1717 - Through the recommendation of the duke of Marlborough he became aide-de-camp to the prince, and he served with distinction in the campaign against the Turks.

1732 - He arrived on the North American continent via the ship "Ann".

1745 - He was promoted to the rank of major-general.
1765 - He was raised to the rank of general.
1785 - He died at Cranham Hall, Essex, on the 1st of July.
