Mulholland, William
1855 - William Mulholland, born on the 11th of September in Belfast, Ireland. He was a water-services engineer in Southern California, United States.
1870 - Emigrated to New York City with his brother Hugh Mulholland and traveled to San Francisco.
1913 - His 233-mile Los Angeles Aqueduct, completed in November, took water from the Owens Valley in Central California in a project requiring over 2000 workers and 164 tunnels.
1928 - His career ended fifteen years later, on the 12th of March, when his St. Francis Dam failed just hours after being inspected by Mulholland himself, and sent 12.5 billion US gallons (47,000,000 m³) of water flooding into the Santa Clarita Valley, north of Los Angeles.
1935 - Died on the 22nd of July and buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California.
