I was born on April 14, 1967 to Paul and Eleanor Courts in Savannah Georgia. The eldest of two children, I attended public schools and graduate from Alfred Ely Beach high school in 1985 as 9th in a class of approximately 350. I attended Clark Atlanta University on athletic and academic scholarship with a major in Biology/Pre-Med. Due to the strain of traveling with the basketball team I was forced to drop multiple classes that contained labs. At the end of my senior year I was left with five major scientific courses that were needed for graduation. I made the decision to join the military with the sole purpose of completing my degree. After enlisting and finishing basic training, I was assigned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I immediately started taking classes and changed my degree to Nursing. I was advised to apply to the Army Medical Department Army Enlisting Commissioning Program (AMEDD AECP) in which I was accepted. After Completing my Nursing degree at University of Washington DC on full scholarship, I was commission as an Officer in the United States Army. During this tenure, I met and married Roger Carter and eventually had the love of my life...Roger Malique Carter Jr. in 1999.
