1897 - Born in Milford, Nebraska. Chemical engineer at Procter & Gamble who invented Duncan Hines cake mix, Jif peanut butter, Pringles potato chips, Ivory soap-and Pampers disposable diapers.
1926 - Mr. Mills joined P&G after a stint in the Navy during World War I. He received his chemical engineering degree from the University of Washington.
1959 - Mills tired of changing and washing cloth diapers, so he developed an absorbent, leak-proof diaper that could be simply thrown away after use.
1961 - His product, which Procter & Gamble produced and marketed, became known as Pampers. The product was first sold in Rochester, New York.
1997 - Mills died on November 1st.
