1920 - Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, born on the 5th of January in the province of Brescia, Italy. He was an Italian classical pianist.
1923 - He began music lessons at the age of three, initially with the violin, but quickly switched to the piano.
1930 - At ten he entered the Milan Conservatory.
1938 - At age 18, he began his international career by entering the Ysaÿe International Festival in Brussels, where he placed seventh.
1939 - He earned first prize in the Geneva International Competition where he was acclaimed as "a new Liszt" by pianist Alfred Cortot, a presiding judge.
1993 - His last concert took place on the 7th of May, in Hamburg.
1995 - Died on the 12th of June due to extended illness in Lugano.
