Miller, Moishe
1917 - Born on June 4th in Brooklyn, New York. An American opera singer.
1945-1975 - Employed his powerful, precise baritone voice for some 31 seasons at New York City's Metropolitan Opera, where he was especially noted for his performances in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi.
- Besides being hailed for filling such roles as Germont in La traviata and the title role in Rigoletto, however, he also was renowned for his rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which for many years was a season-opening tradition at Yankee Stadium.
1993 - Merrill was honored with the National Medal of Arts.
2004 - Died on October 23rd in New Rochelle, New York.
