1542 – A queen was born on the 8th day of December this year in Linlithgow Palace, West Lothian. Her reign starts six days after her birth.

 

1543 – On the 9th day of September this year, she was crowned Queen of Scots.

 

1548 - With her marriage agreement in place, five-year-old Mary was sent to France in this year to spend the next ten years at the French court. Henri II had offered to guard her and raise her.

 

1558 – She married the Dauphin François at Notre Dame de Paris. When Henri II died on July 10 this year, she became Queen Consort of France; her husband became François II of France.

 

1559 - She also sat as Queen Consort of France from 10th of July this year up to the 5th December 1560.

 

1587 – At age 44, she died on the 8th day of February this year in Fotheringhay Castle, Northampton shire.
